Health and Safety Team
of the Year
This category recognises health and safety teams that are making a significant
difference in their workplace. The activities and initiatives implemented by the team
must have helped improve the health, safety and/or well-being standards and
performance within either their own or a client organisation.
The team works tirelessly to help improve and maintain safety
standards within the company. It encourages and facilitates
active staff participation and engagement, and endeavours to
promote a positive safety culture.
The Briggs Defence SHEQ team set out to improve the
reputation of health and safety in its workplace. Trust is an
essential component of great working relationships, so the
team worked hard to win the trust of employees, which has
resulted in a huge turnaround in terms of staff participation,
and produced outstanding results.
CrossCountry's safety team has a combined total of 256 years'
experience in the railway service and 136.5 years in safety
(most team members are NEBOSH-qualified). During the past
year, a key achievement for the team has been the design and
introduction of a new catering trolley, which has delivered a
53% reduction in trolley-related accidents.
GAE Engineering’s team oversaw the health and safety
aspects of the early occupation of a 43-storey tower while
construction was still being completed. It implemented
various activities and authored myriad documents, which,
together, comprised an effective emergency safety

departments in the business to one of the strongest and most

The Football Association
The Football Association highly values the professionalism of
the health and safety team, which help the FA realise its
mission and plans in a safe and responsible way. The team’s
approach is transformational, encouraging people to
collaborate with the health and safety function at an early
stage in project development, rather than looking to avoid or

The MBNL/T&T team comprises 40 highly-skilled
professionals who are all passionate about excellence in
health, safety and well-being. Working in collaboration has
been key to making a positive difference to thousands of
stakeholders across the whole supply chain of 26,000 sites.
The four members of the health and safety team have more
than a hundred years of industry experience between them,
and they always go over and above to ensure that employees,
customers and all elements of the supply chain are safe.
